CPM supporter attacked in Beliaghata

A day after CPM worker Sushanta Dey alleged intimidation, police arrested him based on a complaint from TMC supporters. Two TMC supporters were also arrested based on Dey's complaint. Police on Friday arrested Biswas and two others- Sukumar Sen and Nikhil Das who concerted attacks on his family on Thursday. Locals claimed that Sukumar had an old enmity with Biswas over property.He was looking for an excuse to attack him and he had a chance this time.
Sushanta Dey, a CPM worker in the area, was attacked on Thursday night for being Biswas’ poll agent. On Thursday his son, a handicapped athlete, was also pushed to the ground by the attackers when he tried to save his father. Since Friday Biswas’ family has left the home fearing further attack on them. Biswas had lodged a complaint with the Beliaghata police on Thursday night. Meanwhile, TMC supporters lodged a counter complaint alleging Biswas had hit one of their supporters and broke his arm.
