Bengal polls witness 59.5% polling till 1 pm

KOLKATA: Bengal during the second day of polling in 31 assembly seats in which 163 candidates are contesting observed 59.5% polling till 1 pm on Monday. Midnapore (west) had 65% polling till 1 pm.

There were wide range of allegations as Trinamool supporters were allegedly involved in electoral malpractices. There were 1150 complaints lodged with the EC till 2pm.

Trinamool and BJP supporters fought at Jamuria. In some places like Sonamukhi in Bankura armed people were spotted moving.
In Kharagpur area Congress agents were allegedly beaten up by Trinamool men.

Sabang too witnessed violence.

CPM leader Surjya Kanta Mishra contesting from Narayangarh alleged that EC was not properly functioning. He alleged Trinamool was involved in violence. He alleged violence in Keshpur and Garbeta.
