Vasanthakumar richest contestant so far in Tamil Nadu

Tirunelveli: Businessman H Vasanthakumar (65) is contesting from the Nanguneri constituency as a Congress candidate.

He is one among the richest contestants for the upcoming May 16 Assembly election. He is the proprietor of Vasanth & Co, a leading consumer and home appliances sellers in Tamil Nadu.

He has declared assets worth Rs 332.27 crore in the affidavit. He also declared that he has taken loans worth Rs.122.53 crore from several financial institutions.

Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa owns movable and immovable properties worth over Rs113.73 crore as per the affidavit she filed along with the nomination.

Jayalalithaa's assets last year (2015) during by-election in R.K.Nagar constituency were worth Rs.117 crore. In 2011 election, she had declared her asset as Rs.51.4 crore.
