To ensure vote without fear, police personnel conducts flag march in Coimbatore

COIMBARORE: In an effort to boost confidence among voters to cast their vote without fear, as many as 845 police personnel on Tuesday conducted a flag march-past in the city.
Deputy Commissioner of police S Lakshmi (law and order) and R Sivakumar (traffic) led the march-past. Over 171 personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), 113 city armed reserve police, 30 Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP), 450 city police, one additional deputy commissioner, nine assistant commissioners of police, 25 inspectors of police and 44 sub-inspectors of police took part in the march.
The march started from Red Cross and crossed Avinashi Road flyover, Marakkadai, Five corners, Big Bazaar Street, Lanka Corner, Railway junction and ended at Red Cross.Police said the march-past would give confidence among the voters so that they can cast their votes without fear at all the polling stations.
At present, the city police received four companies of Central Paramilitary Force (CPMP) including three companies of CISF and one company of Indo Tibetan Border Police Force.
On Tuesday, more than 1,000 police personnel in Coimbatore city casted their postal votes at CSI Girls Higher Secondary school campus on Avinashi Road.
