PMK president G K Mani on Tuesday sent a representation to the National Human Rights Commission seeking a direction to register a case against chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
Stating that five people died after attending her public meetings at various locations in the state, he said they were made to come to the venue at 11am and sit under scorching sun until 3pm or 4pm when the CM began her speech.
Some of them fainted and this created panic and stampede, causing injuries, said the PMK leader.
“Total recklessness on the part of organisers of AIADMK public meetings, who failed to provide basic facilities at the venue resulted in loss of innocent people's life” he said.
