PMK eyes SC|ST votes, fields 48 candidates
VELLORE: Asserting that PMK was a party that followed the ideology of social justice, chief ministerial candidate Anbumani Ramadoss said his party had fielded 48 candidates from marginalised (SCST) communities for the May 16 assembly election.
Of the 234 constituencies, 44 are re served for Scheduled Castes and 2 for Scheduled Tribes. No other party , be it AIADMK, DMK or BJP, has given them opportunities, Anbumani told the gathering at Fort City. He introduced candidates fielded in Vellore, Krishnagiri and Tiruvannamalai districts.
“This is the right season for the party (whose symbol is mango).“ He urged the people of the state to vote for his party to take the state on the development path.
“We are a party striving for reservation for backward classes and most backward classes. We brought reservation for three communities, including OBC and MBC,“ said Anbumani.
