CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu recorded 73.85% voter turnout on Monday. Pennagaram in Dharmapuri district and Edappadi in Salem district registered the highest percentage of polling in the state (85% each).
Chennai district, which has 16 constituencies, recorded 60.47% polling. Two Chennai constituencies -- Chennai Harbour (53%) and Villivakkam (50%) -- were among the lowest in the state.
At a press briefing chief electoral officer Rajesh Lakhoni said, "Chennai registered a low voter turnout.
Poll percentage in the city increased by just 6% after 3pm."
