DMK fields 10 candidates out of 13 seats in Vellore

DMK strong man Durai Murugan has been fielded in his home turf - Katpadi Constituency - for the election. Of the 13 constituencies in the dsitrict, the DMK has field its candidates in 10 constituencies and allotted Sholinghur, Vaniyamabdi and Ambur constituencies for its alliance parties.

Vellore: DMK strong man Durai Murugan has been fielded in his home turf - Katpadi Constituency - for the election. Of the 13 constituencies in the dsitrict, the DMK has field its candidates in 10 constituencies and allotted Sholinghur, Vaniyamabdi and Ambur constituencies for its alliance parties.
The seasonal politician would face a young AIADMK candidate, S R K Appu (alias) S Radhakrishnan, 33, who gave a tough fight during the 2011 assembly election.
However, Murugan won the election with a lowest victory margin of 2,576 votes against Appu, who secured a total vote of 72,014. In 2006, he won the election with a victory margin of over 35,000 votes against AIADMK candidate B Narayanan.
An interesting battle between the arch rivals in Vellore. the DMK has fielded P Karthickeyan, former mayor of Vellore against his brother P Neelakandan of AIADMK party.
R Gandhi, Vellore (East) DMK district secretary, has been contesting in Ranipet constituency for the third consecutive time. He won the 2006 election, while he lost the 2011 election.
A P Nandhakumar, Vellore (Central) DMK district secretary, is fielded in Anaicut constituency. However, around 200 party candidates staged a road blockade on Vellore-Odugathur Road for nearly 30 minutes to change the candidate for the constituency. They demanded the party high command to replace Nandhakumar with Babu, DMK Anaicut (West) Union Secretary.
