CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Election Commission's (EC) TNVotes campaign seemed to have caught thousands of eyeballs on Monday.
The EC's official twitter handle @TNelectionsCEO, which has more than 13,500 followers, got more than 3,000 views during peak Twitter traffic between 11am and noon.
Between 7am and 6pm, EC's Twitter handle saw nearly 7,420 interactions.
“Our campaign on Facebook and LinkedIn has also seen good response. We've officially had a tie-up with Twitter and Facebook,“ said an official handling systems at the EC's Chennai office.
Twitter India also posted many of the Election Commission's slogans and campaigns @TwitterIndia.
The Times of India's #NoExcusesDay campaign was particularly successful on Facebook, with its video campaign garnering 7 lakh plus views.
Through the campaign, TOI reached out to 3 lakh people and engaged with around 28,000.
On Twitter, #NoExcusesDay saw more than 213 tweeters, including celebrities like Soundarya Rajnikant, Khusbu Sundar, Gautham Menon, Arya, director Rajesh, joining force ans tweeting selfies with inked fingers.
The campaign also saw 983 retweets and 32 @messages on Facebook.
IvotedTN seems to have become the most popular hashtag, next to TN100percent. IvotedTN saw as many as 835 original tweets and 194 @messages to the Election Commission with a majority of messages showing jubilant tweeters with inked fingers.
Retweets IVotedTN crossed 1,500 with some tweets like the one showing a just married couple casting their vote in Pattarakottai in Neyveli constituency going viral. Another tweet that proved particularly popular was that of 95-yearold Paramathaal casting her vote in Alangulam, near Tirunelveli.
