COIMBATORE: Coimbatore South, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was hoping to open their account in the Tamil Nadu assembly, has turned out to be a damp squib.
Vanathi Sreenivasan, the BJP candidate, launched an aggressive campaign promising implementation of smart city scheme and even an IIM for the city. However, the candidate is now trailing at number 3 behind the ruling AIADMK and the DMK-led alliance.
While AIADMKās Amman Arjun leads with 10,142 votes, followed by Congress candidate Mayura Jayakumar with 8,259 votes, Vanathi Sreenivasan has managed to get 3,088 votes.
