Chennai: It is not all about just adding glamour to the poll scene. It involves hard work too. As political parties scramble to rope in celluloid stars to campaign for them, the BJP has drafted a training programme for film artistes and directors on public speaking before campaigns pick up pace.
After Narendra Modi assumed charge as Prime Minister, there has been a steady flow of members of the Tamil film fraternity, including noted directors and actors, besides small screen actors. Gangai Amaran, Kasthuri Raja (actor Dhanush's father), Gayathri Raguram, Visu, and Vijaykumar, besides S Ve Shekher, have all been enlisted. Actor Kutti Padmini, who joined the party ahead of the previous assembly election, is the state propaganda secretary. While Visu has begun campaigning, Vijaykumar will hit the streets of Thanjavur shortly.
"Various wings are working to give inputs to star campaigners, who will play a crucial role in taking Modi's people-friendly measures to the people. Everyone will travel across the state," said party's state art and culture wing president K V M Sharma. There were many more artistes queuing up to join the party in the coming days, he said. Street plays are also on the cards, wherein dedicated teams would enact significant achievements of BJP government at the Centre.
The party is busy working on video and audio clippings ranging between 10 seconds and one hour that will soon hit various platforms of social media. "With BJP lacking numbers in Rajya Sabha, passage of crucial bills in the Upper House remains a cause for concern. We need more MLAs to get more MPs in RS, and my campaign will focus on Modi and his government," actor Vijaykumar said.
