Madurai: One person was arrested for pelting stones on BJP candidate Durai Kannan's convoy on Sunday night. The team was going around Ramanathapuram constituency canvassing for votes when the attack took place.
Trouble started when the convoy tried to campaign in Periapattinam as some people from a particular community objected.
Stones were pelted on the convoy and posters on the campaign vehicle were torn.
Protesting the attack, Durai Kannan along with his party workers staged a road roko but withdrew it after senior police officials negotiated with them assuring action.
Based on the complaint, Thirupullani police arrested K Nawas Khan from Periapattinam and booked him and few others involved.
