Scan small publications too, EC tells monitoring panel

PUDUCHERRY: The Election Commission of India has directed the district- and state-level media certificate and monitoring committees to scan all small-level newspapers and tabloids for suspected cases on paid news.
A statement from the chief electoral officer said the committees will initiate appropriate legal action against the publications under Section 127 A (1) of the Representation of people act, 1951.He appealed to the publishers to act diligently when publishing news items or advertisements.
