Kottayam: P C George of the Kerala Congress (Secular) had reasons to cheer after the campaign speech at Mundakkayam on Friday made by V S Achuthanandan for his rival LDF's P C Joseph.
The CPM veteran, considered a crowd-puller, did not mention a single word against P C George in the speech which was over in one minute 21 seconds flat much to the chagrin of LDF workers. VS had arrived at Mundakkayam on Friday morning to address the first of his five public meetings in the district.
In the short speech P C Joseph Joseph got just 48 seconds while the remaining 33 seconds was reserved for E S Bijimol, the candidate in neighbouring Peerumedu constituency . VS, however, did not limit his words while speaking at Ponkunnam, Pala, Ettumanur and Kottayam.
Pinarayi Vijayan, who considers Poonjar constituency as a prestige seat, had last week made a surprise visit to the constituency after he found that LDF workers were not serious in the campaign for P C Joseph.
P C George, an Independent candidate, had openly declared that he will support the LDF in case of a hung assembly , if VS was made the chief minister candidate.
