THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Hours after chief minister Oommen Chandy asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw his comments made against Kerala during an election campaign at Thiruvananthapuram, twitter saw Prime Minister being trolled with #PoMoneModi campaign. The PM has compared the state to Somalia in terms of infant mortality among scheduled tribe during an election convention in the state on Sunday.
The topic #PoMoneModi – based on the popular film dialogue of actor Mohanlal which can be loosely translated as Go Back Modi – started trending from Wednesday morning.
One of the tweet said "BJP vote share in Kerala is 6 % and Kerala literacy is 94 %. Totally matching equation. #PoMoneModi”.

Chief minister Oommen Chandy, in his letter to Modi, said: "the people of Kerala were shocked to hear from you certain baseless comments in your recent election rally speech in Kerala. In that speech, you made statements that had nothing to do with the reality and likened Kerala to Somalia. This is unbecoming of a Prime Minister and has created a great deal of agony and protest."
Call it irony. In 2012 when Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat, the then Press Council of India Chairman Markandey Katju said that Gujarat's malnutrition rate was higher than that of poor countries like Somalia.
Meanwhile, a section of social media users said that though Kerala is ahead in various socio-economic indicators, it has nothing to boast of in terms of development among SCs and STs.

Modi who is in the state for election campaign has not responded to the controversy yet.
