KOLLAM: Terming the murder of the young woman at Perumbavoor as ghastly, Union minister for chemicals and fertilizers, Ananth Kumar, flayed the state government saying that the law and order situation in the state had collapsed.
He held chief minister Oommen Chandy and home minister Ramesh Chennithala responsible for making the lives of women in the state miserable.

“We have heard of such incidents from many north Indian states, but never from Kerala. Now, the state has become most insecure for women,” said the Ananth Kumar.
Terming the Perumbavoor case as the second Nirbhaya incident, he said the incident had shaken the collective conscience of the country. “Chief minister Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala are responsible for this. Kerala is moving towards elections. At this time, the security forces in the state are expected to be on high alert. It is during such a time that crimes like these are happening. Considering the gravity of the situations at Perumbavoor and Varkala (where a nursing student was raped) the law and order in the state is in shambles,” he said. He also wanted the culprits should be booked and brought before the law at the earliest.
