T'puram/ Kollam: Opposition leader and CPM veteran V S Achuthanandan on Thursday cautioned LDF leaders to be careful while making comments that may trigger controversies.
The nonagenarian's words of caution came a day after CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan made a reference to a party re s o l u ti on t h at b r a n d ed Achuthanandan as one with antiparty mindset.

Vijayan's reference sparked a series of discussions, which Achuthanandan said should have concluded with the former's clarification. “But it seems there are efforts to flare up the controversy“, he posted on Facebook.
When news channels reported that VS sent out an advice for Vijayan, he wrote another post saying that he hadn't issued any advice or warning to anyone. “I was referring to certain norms applicable to all LDF leaders including myself“, he said.
Responding to the controversy, Vijayan blamed a section of the media for `misquoting' his statement. “I haven't said that VS is an anti-party leader. In fact, I was only replying to a particular question regarding the resolution. But a section of the media, with vested, interest celebrated it. I have never changed the stand. I was clearing the confusion at a public function in Attingal after the channels flashed the story“, Pinarayi said in Kollam.
He also said that despite explaining the issue, a section of media further reported that he had corrected his statement under pressure from CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury.Pinarayi clarified that Yechury never rang him up.
