KOZHIKODE: Captivating catch words are steeling the election show this time with majority of the sitting MLAs ‘appointing’ a group of local workers for preparing catchy slogans to highlight the USP of the candidate. The attitude, character and style of intervention of each candidate is reflected aptly through these slogans.
It is the popularity of slogans prepared by the Fronts including ‘LDF Varum Ellam Sariyavum’ and ‘Valaranam ee Nadu Thudaranam ee Bharanam’ that has triggered local level campaigners to experiment on attractive slogans and catch words.

Gigantic bill board with the catchy line ‘Janaprathinidhikalkku oru Janapaksha Mathruka’ (People’s model for people’s representatives) is the highlight of the campaign of PTA Rahim, sitting MLA of Kunnamangalam. A team of young and creative supporters from the locality are behind the appealing slogans of the LDF candidate. T Siddiq of the UDF and C K Padmanabhan of NDA are the opponents of Rahim.
“We have identified a small group of our workers who have the calibre to create catchy slogans,” said U P Majeed, campaign committee member of PTA Rahim. They sit in groups and find out some interesting sentences, later these slogans are discussed in a larger group and altered if necessary, he added.
Rahim’s campaigners are leading campaign fray with slogan and catchwords. They have already designed nearly a dozen different slogans including ‘Vote is truth should vote for truth,’ to lure voters. The candidate is also referred to as Rahimkka in many such posters to highlight the intimacy that the voters and the candidate enjoy.
‘Janapaksha Vikasanathinte Nishpaksha Mathruka’, is the much celebrated slogan of A Pradeep Kumar, sitting MLA of Kozhikode North. Pradeep Kumar, who is contesting from the constituency for the third consecutive time is pinning hope on his developmental initiatives in the constituency.
Apart from bill boards and posters, social media campaigners also are focusing on catchy slogans for luring voters.
