BJP will end politics of appeasement, says Amit Shah

Kozhikode/Kannur/Thrissur: BJP national president Amit Shah said the entire attention of the country is focused on Kerala as the BJP, for the first time, is going to form a government in the state by defeating both UDF and LDF.
Addressing party workers at the election convention in Muthalakkulam in Kozhikide on Thursday, he said if voted to power, BJP would put an end to the politics of appeasement practiced by both the fronts.
“The two fronts have meted out injustice to a large section of the society in the state by practicing vote bank politics,” he said.
“During the past five decades, the people of the state have been doing negative voting every assembly election to dislodge one front from power. This time you have an opportunity to vote constructively to bring the BJP to power,” he said.
Responding to the charge by CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury that communal harmony will be ruined if BJP came to power in the state, he said: “You don’t have right to give us advice. The BJP is in power in 14 states and they have not faced any communal issues.” The CPM has annihilated over 250 RSS and BJP workers in the state, he alleged.
The intolerance in the name of freedom of expression is more intense in Kannur than JNU, said BJP president Amit Shah. Addressing the election rally of the UDF at Koothuparamba on Thursday, he also said those who sit in Delhi and blow trivial things out of proportion should open their eyes and see who has more intolerance.
“Those who hack the hands and legs of people have now come up as the champions of freedom of expression,” he said referring to the attack on BJP candidate in Koothuparamba, C Sadanandan, who lost both his legs in an attack allegedly by the CPM workers in 1994.
In Thrissur, Amit Shah continued his attack on the recent statement of Sonia Gandhi affirming her love for India. Inaugurating the election meeting of the BJP nominee B Gopalakrishnan at the Thekkinkadu Maidan, Amit Shah asked Sonia where she concealed her love for the country when huge scams were taking place in the country under the UPA regime.
Countering the allegations of the former defense minister and Congress working committee member A K Antony, that BJP leaders had a secret agenda in Kerala, Shah said they have only an open agenda, and that is to hoist a BJP government to power. “We will not rest till this happens,’’ the BJP leader said.
