THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In what seemed to be an effort to replicate chief minister Oommen Chandy's winning strategy in Aruvikkara, senior Congress leader A K Antony sought `secular votes' for UDF to defeat the BJP in Kasaragod and Manjeswaram.

“I have been closely watching election trends. In Kasaragod and Manjeswaram, BJP is our main rival. So secular votes should go in favour of UDF,“ he said. Predicting a majority for the UDF in the elections, thanks to `CPM's murder politics and lack of a constructive development agenda and the BJP's anti-secular stand and threat to religious harmony', Antony said the UDF had convinced people about the `false campaigns' by rival parties.

“The greatest help came from PM Modi's Somalia remark, for which the BJP will have to pay a huge price. There will be no Modi-effect,“ he said. He also criticized the CPM attack on RMP candidate KK Rema and chided the party for intolerance.
