GUWAHATI: A day before the curtains fall on electioneering for the second phase of elections in Assam covering 65 seats, the BJP gave an orchestrated push to its campaign on Friday from Kamakhya temple here with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a nine-day Navratra fast, tweeting: "Prayed to Maa Kamakhya for the development of our nation and the wellbeing of our citizens."

He then went on to greet people on the eve of Assamese new year, celebrated as Bohag Bihu.

Modi had arrived here on Thursday night and visited Raha, Rangia and Sarbhog before signing off at the 'paribartan maha rally'late on Friday evening.

Wherever he went, the Prime Minister started his speech in Assamese, "Bohag Bihur ulog jasilu. Natun bosor bhale houk.(Wish you a happy Bohag Bihu, wish you a happy new year.)"
