Kokrajhar: President of United People's Party (UPP) UG Brahma, who is also contesting the polls from Kokrajhar West constituency, accused fellow Bodo leader and president of Bodoland People's Front (BPF) Hagrama Mohilary of trying to remain in power for the sake of money.
While UPP has joined hands with Congress in the forthcoming election, BPF has partnered BJP.
Talking to the media in Serfanguri, Brahma said Mohilary, who is also the chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council, had sought development of roads, bridges and infrastructure, but had never raised his voice on social issues.
"Development of infrastructure will not lead to development of society. Leaders in power have failed to concentrate on social issues," said Brahma. He also alleged that Mohilary forged the alliance with BJP for money.
Brahma expressed confidence that UPP candidates from Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar East, Kokrajhar West, Sidli and Bijni would emerge victorious. "Candidates from Chapaguri, Barama and Tamulpur will also do well," he added.
