Guwahati: Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said the increased polling percentage in the first phase indicated people's willingness for change in Assam. He added that BJP and its allies will form government in the state.
"The high voting in Assam is against corruption and misrule of Congress; against the failure of the government.
This voting is a retaliation for Congress's betrayal," said Gadkari.
"Congress never bothered to resolve the problems of the people and the state. The number of educated unemployed youths has increased, thousands of small-scale industries have been closed down, medical amenities are not satisfactory and the government failed to perform to peoples' expectations," he said.
Gadkari also said the per capita income of Assam is lower than some of the other northeastern states.
On forming government, Gadkari said BJP will never let down the people of the state.
"We are ready to form the government and make the state a developed one," he added.
