Sonitpur: The husband of a 23-year-old woman in Biswanath Charali district divorced her after she reportedly cast her vote for Bharatiya Janata Party in the recently concluded election.
Dilwara Begum, a resident of Adabheti village under Chatiya police station, cast her vote for the BJP candidate in the Biswanath assembly segment on April 4.
This infuriated her husband Aaimuddin Ali, a farmer, who divorced her immediately by saying 'talaq' three times.

The couple have a five-year-old daughter.
Dilwara Begum said, "I came to know about the talaq only yesterday (Friday). He had threatened he would divorce me over the phone."
