Guwahati: Twenty-fours hours before others are scheduled to set out to conduct the second phase of election, 72 poll personnel on Saturday headed towards remote booths in Kamrup district.
Some travelled on foot, some in boats, some on tractors and some on motorbikes. More than 60 porters accompanied the teams carrying EVMs and other poll material.
The official day for polling personnel to head to booths is Sunday.
1x1 polls

"For the smooth conduct of polls in Kamrup election district, 18 polling parties, comprising presiding officers, polling officers and police personnel, left today (Saturday) for their designated polling stations after receiving EVMs and other poll documents," district information and public relations officer Zahid Tapadar said.
Among these 18 polling stations, eight are in Boko constituency and 10 in Chaygaon constituency. "Advance movement of polling parties has been done as these stations are located in comparatively remote areas," Tapadar said.
The administration has placed 15 tractors at difficult locations to carry the men and material. Four cranes have been kept on standby in some difficult areas to lift the vehicles in case they get stuck.
"Some of these teams have to cross the river. We have requisitioned 20 motorbikes for transporting the men and material. At some places, we are using bullock- and horse-pulled carts, too," the officer said.
The administration has also requisitioned 48 buses, 279 small buses, 357 trekkers and SUVs to transport poll personnel to other areas.
