Marching forward with the education digitization spree, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) started its first primary school ever that is completely equipped with digital technology. SDMC opened the school in Phase III in the Najafgarh zone, west Delhi’s Sector 3 in partnership with an NGO, Society for All Round Development (SARD). Nitika Sharma, the Chairman of the civic agency’s education committee inaugurated the school and said that with the digitization of this school, technology-based education will be provided to the students.
She said that efforts are being made to make more schools fully digital.
The following measures have been implemented in the school to make it fully digital:
  • The school is laden with modern and advanced facilities, where classrooms have tablets, intranet, LED and advanced podiums
  • The school will also equip itself with a smart television, charging points, mics etc. E-content has been uploaded to all tablets for students and teachers according to a senior SDMC official
  • Besides, the SDMC will also enable teaching services to remote and far-flung areas by sending a van equipped with 150 tablets and volunteers for teaching. This facility will be provided by SDMC in collaboration with SARD for those who can't make it to school because of being in remote locations
  • In the ongoing work of digitization, 16 e-study content has already been uploaded to all tablets for students and teachers to utilize for learning

The digitization of the school will help teachers to teach properly with the help of e-content and improve education and assessment methodology, Sharma noted. She said that this step taken by SDMC will also help in fortifying the Digital India Mission started by PM Narendra Modi. In April 2022, the PM exhorted the students to use the latest technology to improve the level of education on his visit to Gujarat.
