Albinder Dhindsa education qualification: The IIT Delhi alumnus behind Blinkit, set to take over as Eternal CEO
Deepinder Goyal, founder and CEO of Eternal Ltd (formerly Zomato), has announced that he will step down as CEO on February 1, 2026. In a letter to the company’s stakeholders, he introduced Albinder Dhindsa, the founder and CEO of Blinkit, as his successor to lead the group.
Dhindsa, who built Blinkit into one of India’s fastest-growing quick commerce platforms, will now take charge of Eternal’s day-to-day operations, including food delivery, quick commerce, and other emerging businesses. Goyal, who has guided the company from its early days as Zomato to the multi-business group it is today, will remain on the board to focus on long-term strategy. With Dhindsa at the helm, Eternal is stepping into a new chapter, and the industry is watching closely.
Albinder Dhindsa’s journey started with a solid academic base. He earned his BTech at IIT Delhi from 2000 to 2004, one of India’s top engineering schools. There, he gained strong problem-solving skills and a knack for analytical thinking.
He then did an MBA at Columbia Business School in New York (2010–2012). At Columbia, he learned about strategy, finance, and leadership while gaining a global perspective. This combination of technical and business skills laid the foundation for his future work in startups and leadership.
Before entering the tech and delivery industry, Dhindsa has experience in consulting and finance. He began his career as a Transportation Analyst at URS Corporation (2005-2007) and later as a Senior Associate at Cambridge Systematics (2007-2010). This experience has given him insight into planning, operations, and managing complex projects.
In 2011, Dhindsa worked for a short time as an Associate at UBS Investment Bank in New York, where he got experience in global finance. Later that year, he returned to India and joined Zomato as Head of International Operations. At Zomato, he helped the company expand to other countries and learned how to run a fast-growing tech business.
In May 2014, Dhindsa founded Blinkit (formerly Grofers). His focus was on delivering groceries and essentials ultra-fast, a concept that was just starting in India. Over nearly 12 years, he grew Blinkit into one of the country’s leading quick commerce platforms.
During his tenure, Blinkit was known for its efficient operations, smart logistics, and quick delivery. It also became an important element of Eternal’s expansion. Dhindsa’s experience at Blinkit has prepared him for his current role of leading the entire Eternal.
With Albinder Dhindsa stepping in as the new CEO, Eternal begins a new chapter. Dhindsa’s own journey, from IIT Delhi to Columbia, from consulting to Zomato, and then Blinkit, is a combination of excellent education, global exposure, and practical experience. Now, he will lead multiple businesses, focus on growth, and keep innovation moving forward. Goyal will stay on the board to provide stability, while Dhindsa brings fresh energy and practical expertise. Together, they plan to guide Eternal through its next stage of growth in India’s fast-changing digital commerce market.
