Vidya Valley School Students Excel at Young Explorer Inter-School Project Competition

PUNE: The Finale of the Young Explorer Inter-School Project Competition was hosted by BVB’s Muktangan Exploratory on 16 January 2026. The prestigious competition witnessed participation from schools across Pune, receiving over 300 project submissions. Following a rigorous evaluation process, the top 70 projects were shortlisted for the final round.

Vidya Valley School achieved a notable distinction in the Junior Category, with three projects from Std. VII students being selected for the finals based on their originality and innovative approach. The selection process comprised multiple stages, including synopsis submission, an interview round, video presentation, and the final project showcase.

The selected students included Ahaan Sabharwal and Arnav Nade, who jointly presented their project titled “Chloro-Energizer: A Photosynthetic Energy Harvester.” The project aims to develop and demonstrate an innovative, eco-friendly energy-harvesting model inspired by the natural process of photosynthesis. Using chlorophyll extracted from plant leaves, the model converts sunlight into usable electrical energy, thereby contributing to the generation of renewable energy and addressing challenges such as energy shortages.

Vedant Godbole showcased his project “E.C.O. (Environmental Carbon Optimizer),” which focuses on reducing air pollution by absorbing carbon dioxide and environmental toxins while releasing oxygen through photosynthesis. The project proposes the integration of algae-based oxygen-producing systems into existing traffic signals and street infrastructure, directly addressing the growing concern of urban air pollution.

Kiaan Kamat presented “Smart Tap Water Saver,” a project aimed at promoting water conservation through intelligent water usage. The model introduces a smart tap powered by artificial intelligence that detects hand movements and analyses user behaviour to optimise water flow, thereby reducing wastage and encouraging responsible water consumption.

The students demonstrated confidence, clarity, and scientific understanding while presenting their projects before the jury members and received appreciation for their innovative thinking and practical solutions. The event served as an enriching learning experience and provided significant inspiration to young learners aspiring to pursue scientific inquiry and innovation. This competition provided our students with an excellent platform to apply scientific concepts to real-world challenges. Their dedication, curiosity, and ability to think innovatively reflect the school’s commitment to experiential learning and nurturing young scientific minds.
