CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu marginally improved its pass percentage in the sslc exam this year, securing 94.31% as against 93.80% last year.
Girls outshined boys with a pass percentage of 96.47 - a 4.32% difference when compared to boys.
This year, a total of 8,70,643 students took the exam across the state - of whom 4,35,247 lakh were girls and 4,35,396 were boys. Chennai secured the 29th place, with a pass percentage of 92.34.
Pudukottai district topped the list with a pass percentage of 97.57, followed by Sivagangai (97.54). Among govt schools, Sivaganga topped the list with 97.42% and Pudukottai followed with 97.09%.
A total of 12,647 schools took the test this year, of whom 5,171 secured a 100% pass. Among them, 1,931 are govt schools. A total of 8,233 schools secured more than 95% pass -- of which 3,463 are govt schools.
In terms of pass percentage, private schools topped the list with. 98.14. Govt schools secured a pass percent of 91.86 and aided schools, 94.34. Girls schools secured 96.42%, while boys schools got 88.50%. Chennai ranks 29 among all districts, with a pass percentage of 92.34.
