SSC CGL 2025 final vacancies announced: Over 15,000 posts across ministries and departments
The Staff Selection Commission has released the final vacancy list for the SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination 2025, announcing 15,130 posts across multiple ministries and government departments. The vacancies were updated as on March 6, 2026, and include a range of Group B and Group C positions in departments such as the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, and others.
According to the official data, 6,464 posts are for the unreserved category, while 3,834 are reserved for OBC candidates, 2,223 for SC, 1,134 for ST, and 1,475 for EWS candidates. The examination is conducted annually to recruit graduates for various administrative, investigative, and clerical roles across central government offices.
Several departments under the central government account for a significant share of the vacancies. The Office Superintendent post under the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has the highest number of openings, with 6,626 vacancies.
Another large share of vacancies is in the Inspector (Central Excise) post under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), which has 1,306 posts. The Auditor post in the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) under the Ministry of Defence has 1,174 vacancies, making it one of the largest recruitment pools in this cycle.
Other prominent positions include Assistant Section Officer (ASO) in the Central Secretariat Service with 982 vacancies, and Tax Assistant posts in the CBDT with 1,294 vacancies. Departments such as the Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of External Affairs, and Enforcement Directorate also feature in the vacancy list with smaller numbers of positions.
Several Group B posts continue to attract strong interest from candidates appearing for the exam. These include Inspector of Income Tax with 412 vacancies, Inspector (Preventive Officer) with 353 vacancies, and Sub Inspector in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with 93 vacancies.
The recruitment list also includes Junior Statistical Officer (249 posts) and Statistical Investigator Grade II (118 posts) for candidates with a background in statistics.
The age limit varies depending on the post. Many Group B posts have an age range of 18 to 30 years, while several Group C positions such as Tax Assistant, Auditor, and Upper Division Clerk have an 18 to 27 years age limit. The Junior Statistical Officer post allows candidates up to 32 years of age.
The commission has also clarified that state-wise or zone-wise vacancies are not collected by SSC, and candidates must contact the respective departments for such details.
The SSC CGL examination is one of the largest recruitment processes conducted by the commission each year, drawing lakhs of graduates from across the country seeking positions in central government services.
