SMC recruitment 2026 opens 1924 posts for clerks, engineers and medical officers; apply from April 1

SMC recruitment 2026: The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has announced that it is going to fill 1924 vacant positions in different departments. The positions include 45 posts in the categories of Clerk, Engineers, Medical Officers, Staff Nurses, Drivers, Technical Assistants, Marshals, and others.

The short notice for the recruitment process was announced on March 12, 2026. The corporation announced that the online application process for SMC Recruitment 2026 will be available on their website on April 1, 2026, for the interested and qualified candidates.

Notification and Application Schedule
The recruitment notice for the positions in the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has been announced under Advertisement No. P.R.O./739/2025-26. According to the corporation, the detailed notification containing comprehensive information about eligibility conditions, post-wise vacancies and other recruitment guidelines will be issued separately.

Candidates will be able to apply online from April 1, 2026 at 11 am. The application link will remain valid until the end of April 11, 2026, at 11 pm. It is important that the applicants complete the registration process from the official website of the Surat Municipal Corporation.

Application fee and categories
Candidates applying for the posts must pay an application fee based on their category. The candidates who belong to the General and OBC (Creamy Layer) categories have to pay Rs. 500 as an application fee.

Candidates from OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC and ST categories must pay Rs. 250. Applicants belonging to the PwD (Divyang) category and Ex-Servicemen are exempt from paying the application fee.

Selection process for recruitment
The selection process for the posts announced under the SMC Recruitment 2026 notification includes various steps. Candidates will be required to write a written examination conducted by the corporation.

Qualified candidates from the written examination will then move on to the next rounds of the selection process.
