Office of Development, BU, organised webinar session on ‘Israeli Start-up Ecosystem and Culture’
The Office of Development, Bennett University organized an insightful webinar on Israeli Start-up Ecosystem and Culture in collaboration with the Embassy of Israel on 15th May 2020.
Israel leads the world in terms of researchers in R & D domain and is counted as an advanced innovative player globally among many other accolades. With a leading economy, a striking concentration of innovative people and countless cutting-edge technologies, Israel is home to renowned corporates and start-ups in the high-tech industry.
This webinar was conducted by a preeminent expert, Yuval Bloomberg, an Israeli materials engineer, with more than 20 years of experience in the Israeli technology industry. The panellist also included Ms. Orly Goldschmidt - Head of Public Diplomacy, Embassy of Israel. Drawing from his in-depth knowledge of culture and technology of companies in Israel, East Asia, Europe and the United States, Mr. Bloomberg delved into the ‘Cultural component’ which is responsible for creative and innovative thinking of Israelis and contributes to the success of the industry.
Mr. Bloomberg shared insights on Creative thinking which is a part of Israeli culture and is more of an educational process rather than a learning one. He articulated the elements of a successful start-up and contributed its success to brainstorming, lifelong learning and development, creative thinking, absence of hierarchies, open environment and improvisation. He motivated the students to overcome failures and hinted that failure must be culturally allowed for the conceptualisation of new ideas.
To practice creative thinking, one must choose an area of interest, focus on it and build self- enriching habits through learning. Learning is what lays a good foundation for new ideas, said Mr. Bloomberg.
His reflection on pertinent questions around Israelis’ creative thinking, their directness and acceptance of failures resonated with the entrepreneurship and innovation spirit nurtured at Bennett University. This webinar not only provided BU students with fresh ideas for new projects but also opened doors to collaboration opportunities with such an innovative eco-system.
