NTA invites applications for GAT-B, BET 2026 at exams.nta.nic.in: Check key dates, eligibility and direct link to apply
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the application process for the Graduate Aptitude Test – Biotechnology (GAT-B) and the Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) 2026. Candidates who want to apply can visit the official website, exams.nta.nic.in, and submit their forms online.
These exams are conducted for admission to postgraduate biotechnology programmes supported by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. The Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) is also held for awarding the DBT-Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF) for research in biotechnology.
As per the official notice, the online application process began on March 1, 2026, and will continue till April 9, 2026, up to 5:00 PM. Candidates can pay the application fee till April 9, 2026, up to 11:50 PM.
The application correction window will be open from April 11 to April 13, 2026. During this time, candidates can make changes to specific details in their application form.
The GAT-B and BET 2026 exams will be held on April 17, 2026. Both exams will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode and the question paper will be in English. The total duration of the exam will be 180 minutes (3 hours).
The GAT-B exam will be conducted from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon, while the BET exam will take place from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
For General, Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer), and Economically Weaker Sections candidates, the application fee is Rs 1300 for each exam. Candidates applying for both GAT-B and BET will have to pay Rs 2600.
For Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Persons with Disabilities candidates, the fee is Rs 650 for each exam, and Rs 1300 for both exams.
Candidates are allowed to submit only one application form. The commission has clearly stated that multiple applications from the same candidate will not be accepted. Also, applications will be accepted only in online mode.
Candidates are advised to read all instructions carefully before filling out the form and complete the process within the given deadline.
