NEET UG Counselling 2024: Over 600 new medical seats added for Phase 2 in Telangana, AP and Maharashtra
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the addition of 614 new seats for the second round of NEET UG Counselling 2024. These seats have been allocated to medical colleges across Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Telangana. Candidates can view the updated seat list on MCC's official website, mcc.nic.in. As per the latest seat matrix update, Telangana has been allocated 600 additional seats, with Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra each receiving 7 additional seats.
The new seats have been added for various quotas such as All India, Non-Resident Indian (NRI), and deemed or paid seats. Candidates can check the comprehensive seat matrix as provided here.
The official notice states, “The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS has received information that the following University has been granted Deemed to be University status by UGC. Therefore, as per the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in W.P (c) No. 267/2017 in Dar-Us- Slam Educational Trust and Ors. Vs. Medical Council of India & Ors.”, the seats of the following colleges are being included in the seat matrix for Round-2 of UG Counselling 2024 in the larger interest of candidates.”
The institutes that have been granted the deemed University status along with their seat matrix are provided below:
Virtual seats have been added to medical colleges across various states and union territories, including Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Delhi (NCT), Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.

Telangana medical seat matrix: Check details
In a notice issued on September 7, the MCC announced that it has received confirmation that at least four institutions have been granted "Deemed to be University" status by the UGC. The seats from these colleges are being included in the Round-2 seat matrix for UG Counselling 2024 to benefit candidates.The official notice states, “The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS has received information that the following University has been granted Deemed to be University status by UGC. Therefore, as per the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in W.P (c) No. 267/2017 in Dar-Us- Slam Educational Trust and Ors. Vs. Medical Council of India & Ors.”, the seats of the following colleges are being included in the seat matrix for Round-2 of UG Counselling 2024 in the larger interest of candidates.”

- Malla Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad: 200 MBBS seats
- Malla Reddy Medical College for Women, Hyderabad: 200 MBBS seats
- Malla Reddy Institute of Dental Sciences, Hyderabad: 100 BDS seats
- Malla Reddy Dental College for Women, Hyderabad: 100 BDS seats
Virtual seats for MBBS, BDS or B.Sc Nursing
The MCC has also published a list of 6,947 virtual vacancies for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Nursing admissions in round 2.Candidates can view the detailed matrix for the addition of virtual seats here.
