NEET-SS 2025 counselling delay draws doctors' ire online as Round 2 remains on hold
The reaction followed a notice issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on June 6, stating that Round 2 of NEET-SS 2025 counselling remains on hold because of an ongoing legal dispute over 151 vacant super-speciality seats in Tamil Nadu.
“Many are facing mounting EMIs, financial stress, and uncertainty about their careers while the counselling process remains stalled,” a social media post said. The doctors questioned who should be held responsible for the delay and whether it reflected a larger failure of the medical education system.
According to the MCC, the Supreme Court had directed the Tamil Nadu government to inform the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) about 151 vacant DM and MCh seats and revert them for inclusion in the ongoing counselling process. The committee said it had written to the state government seeking the transfer of the seats.
Doctors online argued that the review petition should not hold up counselling for thousands of candidates. Some suggested that MCC could proceed with Round 2 counselling and accommodate the disputed seats in a later round, subject to the court's final decision.
“Supreme Court has already issued directions. Review Petition should not delay NEET-SS Round-2 counselling for thousands of candidates,” one post said.
