NCERT recruitment 2026 underway: Check eligibility, application fee, and other details
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has begun the online application process for NCERT Recruitment 2026. The recruitment drive aims to fill 117 academic vacancies across its campuses. NCERT has explicitly stated that such applications submitted in any other mode will be rejected, and so the application should be properly followed as per the stipulated procedure.
The recruitment exercise is geared towards empowering NCERT on academic staff on disciplines. The official notification regarding the vacancies in the posts of Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor is announced to be 114 vacancies as per the Advertisement No.177/2026. Moreover, three vacancies are allocated to library posts, which include Deputy Librarian and Assistant Librarian.
This combination of teaching and librarian indicates the two-fold emphasis of NCERT on classroom teaching and management of academic resources. These roles combined have been vital in the development of the curriculum, training of teachers, research, and publications of education taught to schools nationwide.
The shortlisted candidates will be advertised in NCERT campuses in New Delhi, Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysuru, and Shillong. The distribution of destinations shows the national character of NCERT and provides an applicant with an opportunity of working in various academic settings.
The campuses play varied roles towards the mandate of NCERT in creating texts conducting research, and also developing teacher professionals. Before applying, it would be recommended that candidates go through the official notification to ensure that they are aware of the campus-specific requirements, in case they exist.
According to NCERT, the eligibility, age restriction, retirement age, and age relaxation will be determined by the most recent norms that will be provided by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Government of India and the NCERT. Organized categories will be able to relax as per the current rules.
It is highly recommended that the applicants read the specifics of the eligibility conditions listed in the notification. Academic qualifications may not be enough in the case of other conditions like experience or age conditions.
Candidates of the UR, OBC, and EWS category have been charged an application fee of Rs 1,000. But the candidates of SC, ST, PwD and women are waived of the fee. Where necessary, payment should be made online.
Selection would be conducted through shortlisting of the candidates and then the interviews. Notably, interview performance will be the only basis of drawing up the final merit list as per the UGC and NCERT. This cycle of recruitment will not include a written examination.
