MP schoolkids fare poorly in NAS
BHOPAL: A survey carried out by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (
The National Achievement Survey (NAS) shows 55,546 students out of nearly 1.46 lakh students from III, V and VIII standards could pass subjects in a test conducted in November last year. In case of Class VIII, 90,629 children failed to get even minimum pass marks. Only 38% of Class 8 students managed to clear mathematics.
In Class 5, only 47% students passed mathematics. Kids of Class 3 have done better going by percentage of students - 61.7% children cleared the subject.
From a copy of NAS 2017 result accessed by TOI, it becomes clear state of school education is in bad shape despite a slew of schemes being run by the state government to improve school education.
As per official document, 58% of Class 8 students failed to pass general science and social science subjects. Similarly, 46% students of Class 5 and 39% in Class 3 failed to clear test in environmental science.
