<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">festivals have become an inherent part of student life in colleges and medical colleges are no different. the festivals of some of the colleges are awaited by not merely their students but by the students of other colleges as well, and maulana azad medical college (mamc) is one of these. the college recently had its annual festival ‘synapse 2002’ from february 26 to march 2.
inaugurating the five-day festival, the dean of the college dr sushil kumar said: "our effort is not only to excel in education but also in developing our overall personality by participating in extra-curricular activities. after these five days of fun, excitement and hard work i hope you will resume your studies with a new interest." the festival had a right mix of everything including antakshri, goonj -indian music competition, western dance competition, creative writing, english and hindi debate, inquisition - the quiz, collage making, t-shirt painting, <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">hasya kavi sammelan</span>, indian folk dance competition and of course vope - the dance party held on all five nights allowed students not merely to shake a leg after a hard day but an opportunity to win a kinetic bike as well. speaking about synapse, nivedita pandey, fourth semester student, mamc said: "synapse is our way of showing to the world that we are not just dull faces behind spectacles. we are capable of doing everything else. it is our share of fun and excitement. it is a good break from the daily routine of hospital and classes." the play <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">aap aaye baad aayee,</span> depicting the life of an mamc student-doctor in a humorous way was immensely liked by everyone. diva - the fashion show brought out the glamourous side of the budding doctors with students from lady hardinge medical college, university college of medical science and mamc participating apart from students of delhi college of engineering and netaji subhash institute of technology. several colleges like indraprastha, zakhir husain, delhi college of arts and commerce and amity actively participated in many of the events. this year synapse witnessed a large participation of outstation colleges as well. vishesh paul fourth semester, mamc said: "festival gives us an opportunity to interact with the students of other colleges and especially from the medical colleges." the highlight of the synapse which drew maximum crowd was the celebrity night which had a performance by punjabi pop star mika. the crowd sang and danced along with him as he belted out his magical numbers. </div> </div>
