Kerala SSLC 2026 to commence on March 5; 4.17 lakh students set to appear across 3,031 centres
The Kerala SSLC examinations will start from March 5, 2026. Kerala General Education Minister V. Sivankutty on Monday announced that 4,17,497 students have registered for the Class 10 board examinations this year. The exams will be conducted across 3,031 centres, including seven centres in the Gulf region and nine in Lakshadweep.
While the examinations in Kerala and Lakshadweep will proceed as scheduled and conclude on March 30, tests slated for March 5, 6 and 7 in Gulf centres have been postponed owing to regional security concerns in parts of the Middle East. Revised dates for those centres will be announced separately. A total of 633 candidates are registered in Gulf centres and 386 in Lakshadweep. The SSLC results are expected by the third week of May.
The Higher Secondary (Plus Two) results have been scheduled for May 22, 2026. Official data show that more than 4.52 lakh second-year students, 4.11 lakh first-year candidates and 3.41 lakh first-year improvement applicants have registered for the Higher Secondary examinations. First-year Higher Secondary and Vocational examinations will commence on March 5, while second-year examinations will begin on March 6. The exams will be held in 1,984 specialised centres across the state.
The Vocational Higher Secondary (VHSE) stream has 26,829 first-year and 26,826 second-year regular students appearing from 389 centres. Nearly 3,700 teachers have been deployed exclusively for VHSE duty.
Valuation of vocational answer scripts will begin on April 6 at eight designated camps immediately after the theory examinations conclude.
The government has mobilised around 26,000 teachers for invigilation duty. Chief superintendents have been appointed in all centres to ensure strict supervision and adherence to norms.
Authorities confirmed that answer sheets have been distributed to all 41 District Educational Offices. Question papers, after sorting and verification, have been secured in treasuries and bank lockers to prevent any breach.
With lakhs of students set to enter examination halls from March 5, the state’s education department has activated a full-scale administrative mechanism to ensure smooth, secure and transparent conduct of the SSLC and Higher Secondary examinations.
