NEW DELHI: The

Karnataka Examinations Authority

(KEA) sources confirmed that the CET results will be declared by the end of May. Sources told TOI, "We are preparing the results and we should be able to announce it between May 27 and 30. We will issue a notification about announcement a week before."

Last year too, the results were announced on May 30.

CET 2018 was held between April 18 and 20 for entrance into engineering colleges in the state. About 1.98 lakh students took the test this year.

KEA also drew flak from many for holding the examinations on Basava Jayanthi which was a state holiday. Usually the authority holds the exam during the first weekend of May but it pre-poned the dates in the wake of assembly elections in the state.

The

Karnataka CET 2018

application form was closed on March 22, 2018. The year the Karnataka CET exam was conducted separately for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology on two alternate days.

The engineering entrance exam was conducted every year for granting admission to various B.Tech courses in the government and private institutions of Karnataka.

Last year around 1,85,418 candidates applied for Karnataka CET entrance exam 2017. Around 125860 candidates qualified the exam out of 1,78,959 students who turned up for the examination.

As per the

Karnataka High Court

dated February 24, 2018, the candidates holding

Overseas Citizens of India

(OCI) card, were eligible for the examination process.
