The QS World University Rankings by Subject for the 2024 is out! This year's edition lists a wider range of options with 55 individual subjects across five broad subject areas. Additionally, the rankings includes a record 1,559 institutions, welcoming 64 universities for the first time.
Fresh entrants include 14 universities making their QS ranking debut, such as Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST), Osaka Metropolitan University, and University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Music makes its debut as a ranked subject, while the ever-evolving Data Science & Artificial Intelligence category expands to include 51 new institutions.
Indian universities have made a strong presence in the QS World University Rankings 2024 by Subject. This year, a record-breaking 69 Indian universities have secured a spot in the rankings, with a total of 424 entries. This represents a significant 19.4% increase from the previous year's 355 entries.
Jawaharlal Nehru University has made a big stride in the global rankings, debuting at number 20 (for Development Studies) and becoming India's highest-ranked university in the QS World University Rankings 2024 by Subject.
A remarkable 72% of Indian entries are newcomers compared to last year. This shows a significant 17% year-on-year improvement for India overall. In the QS World University Rankings 2024 by Subject, several Indian institutions have made a strong presence, with the University of Delhi leading the way with an impressive 30 entries. IIT Bombay (28 entries) and IIT Kharagpur (27 entries) follow closely behind. IIT Madras (22 entries) and IIT Delhi (19 entries) also contribute to this positive outlook, demonstrating a mix of advancements and consistent placements.
