JEE Main 2020: An overview

Every year, National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main twice before admissions to the next academic session. This year, NTA has scheduled to conduct JEE (Main) first session from January 6 to 11, 2019.

Candidates who seek admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTI), Institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other Institutions need to qualify in the JEE (Main) examination. The (B. E. /B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) is an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate is supposed to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programs offered by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).

Mode of Examination

JEE Main will be conducted in various modes — B.E. /B. Tech. in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. For B. Arch Mathematics- Part I and Aptitude Test-Part II will be conducted in CBT mode and Drawing Test — Part III in Pen & Paper Based (offline) mode to be attempted on drawing a sheet of A4 size.

B.Planning — Mathematics - Part I, Aptitude Test - Part II and Planning Based Questions Part III in CBT mode only.

​Choice of Medium of Question Papers

The medium of the question papers will be in English, Hindi, and Gujarati. It is to be noted that the option of question paper language should be exercised while filling up the application form and it cannot be changed at a later stage. Candidates should note that for the correctness of the questions in all the question papers, the English version will be taken as final.

JEE Main 2020 Admit Card

NTA will release JEE Main admit card 2020 on the official website in December 2019. Candidates would be able to download JEE Main admit card from the NTA’s website using their registration number and date of birth. It is to be noted that no candidates would be allowed to appear for the examination without presenting the print copy of admit card.

Guidelines for Computer Based Test

Candidates should bring the following documents on the day of examination at the test centre. Candidates who don’t bring these will not be allowed to appear for the examination.

* Print copy of Admit Card downloaded from NTA’s website.

* One passport size photograph (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) should bring to paste on the specific space in the attendance sheet at Centre during the examination.

* Any of the authorized photo IDs (must be original, valid and non-expired)

* PwD certificate issued by the authorized medical officer, if claiming the relaxation under PwD category

Result of JEE (Main) 2020

The result of JEE (Main) 2020 will be compiled on the basis of the final answer key. NTA will not entertain any grievance with regard to answer keys after the declaration of result of January JEE (Main)- 2020.

The results will be made available on the official website of NTA by January 31, 2020. Candidates would be able to obtain JEE Main 2020 result by logging in with their registration number and date of birth.
