Indian Navy recruitment 2026: Indian Navy's Short Service Commission (SSC) Officer registrations are underway for the January 2027 course. The application window opened on January 24, 2026. Eligible candidates can apply through the official website, joinindiannavy.gov.in. The last date to submit the applications is February 24, 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill 260 vacancies across the Executive, Technical, and Education branches. No application fee is being charged.
According to the official notification, the Executive branch accounts for the largest share of posts. It includes 76 vacancies for SSC General Service (GS/X), 18 for Air Traffic Controller (ATC), 20 for Naval Air Operations Officer (NAOO), 26 for SSC Pilot, and 10 for SSC Logistics.
The Technical branch has 42 posts in the Engineering Branch General Service and 38 in Electrical Branch General Service. In addition, eight posts each are earmarked for Submarine Technical Engineering and Submarine Technical Electrical. The Education branch will recruit 15 officers under this cycle.
Applicants must be born between July 2, 2002, and July 1, 2008, as per Indian Navy norms. Age relaxation for SSC officers will be applicable in line with existing rules.
Educational requirements differ across branches. Most Executive branch roles require a BE or B.Tech degree with at least 60 per cent marks. For ATC, NAOO and SSC Pilot, candidates must also have secured 60 per cent in both Class 10 and Class 12, including English.
For SSC Logistics, eligible qualifications include BE, B.Tech, MBA, MCA, M.Sc (IT), B.Sc, B.Com or B.Sc (IT) with a postgraduate diploma in Finance, subject to first-class marks.
Technical branch posts demand BE or B.Tech degrees in specified engineering streams with a minimum of 60 per cent marks. For the Education branch, candidates must hold M.Sc or B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech degrees in relevant subjects.
The online application window will close on February 24, 2026. The examination schedule will be announced separately. Admit cards will be released ahead of the exam, and result updates will be published on the official website.
