India Post GDS result 2026: When will the second merit list release? Check date
The India Post has already released the first merit list for the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment 2026 on March 6, 2026. The state-wise merit list was released on the official website, indiapost.gov.in.
Many candidates are now waiting for the second merit list. However, the department has not announced any official date for releasing the next list yet.
The document verification (DV) process for candidates shortlisted in the first merit list has concluded. According to the official schedule, shortlisted candidates were required to complete their document verification by March 23, 2026.
Now the department will review the number of vacancies that remain unfilled.
Usually, the next merit list is released after the document verification process is completed. During verification, some candidates may fail to submit required documents or may not report at all. In such cases, those seats remain vacant.
After checking the remaining vacancies, India Post releases additional merit lists to fill the available posts.
Based on previous recruitment trends, the second merit list is generally released around three to four weeks after the first list. Since the first merit list was released on March 6, the second merit list is expected in late early April 2026. However, candidates should know that this is only an expected timeline and the official date has not yet been confirmed.
In some previous recruitment cycles, the selection process continued up to the sixth or seventh merit list before all posts were filled.
This recruitment drive aims to fill 28,636 posts of Gramin Dak Sevak across the country. The results are released in the form of state-wise merit lists in PDF format for each postal circle.
Candidates can check the merit list by visiting the official website and clicking on the “Candidate Corner” section under the “List of Shortlisted Candidates” link.
The selection process for the recruitment is completely merit-based. The merit list is prepared based on marks obtained in Class 10.
No written examination or interview is conducted for the recruitment. Due to the minimum eligibility of Class 10 and a large number of vacancies, the recruitment has received a high number of applications.
During the selection process, only one registration per candidate is considered valid.
Candidates whose names appear in the second merit list must complete document verification at the Divisional Office where they have been selected.
They must carry original documents along with two sets of photocopies. Required documents include Class 10 marksheet, Identity proof, Caste certificate (if applicable), Residence certificate.
After successful document verification, candidates will undergo a medical examination. Following this, the final appointment letter will be issued.
Candidates who did not find their names in the first merit list are advised to regularly check the official website, as more merit lists may be released if vacancies remain.
