IIT Madras launches 3 AI courses: Registrations open till this date; check complete details here
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has launched three new artificial intelligence courses through the SWAYAM Plus platform. The courses are part of the ‘AI for All’ campaign and aim to make digital skills accessible to a wider audience, including those without a technical background.
The announcement was made by Prof V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, during an event marking two years of SWAYAM Plus operations. The initiative is being run in partnership with IITM Pravartak and focuses on practical learning.
The new courses include AI for Aspiring Engineers, AI for Administrators, and Prompt Engineering. Each course is designed for a specific group, from students to working professionals, keeping real-world use in mind.
AI for Aspiring Engineers covers basics of Python, AI and Machine Learning using engineering datasets. AI for Administrators helps professionals use AI tools for decision-making. The Prompt Engineering course focuses on how to interact effectively with AI systems.
According to Prof. R. Sarathi, Coordinator of SWAYAM Plus, the platform has completed two years and now offers over 500 courses across 15 sectors. More than 5.5 lakh learners have registered so far, showing steady growth.
The courses follow earlier batches of the ‘AI for All’ campaign, which saw over 92,000 registrations. Interested learners can apply through the SWAYAM Plus portal, with the last date to register set for May 10, 2026.
The AI for Aspiring Engineers course is priced at Rs 500 plus GST. The other two courses AI for Administrators and Prompt Engineering are available at Rs 100 plus GST each, making them accessible to more learners.
Earlier, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, in partnership with the SWAYAM Plus portal, had launched a free nationwide Artificial Intelligence (AI) training programme for rural school teachers. The initiative was aimed at strengthening digital and teaching capacities in government and rural schools across India.
