IIM Rohtak organises ‘Run for Unity’ mini-marathon to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel
ROHTAK: Indian Institute of Management Rohtak organized the annual Run for Unity Mini Marathon to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 2nd November 2025. The 5 km marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 500 students, faculty members, and staff members, reflecting the spirit of unity, leadership, and national pride.
The event was officially inaugurated at 7:30 a.m. by Director Prof. Dheeraj Sharma, who highlighted the profound impact of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, on the nation’s unity and integrity. Prof. Sharma highlighted Patel’s lifelong commitment to nation-building and urged the students to embody the same sense of responsibility and purpose in their professional and personal lives.
Following the address, the Run for Unity Mini Marathon 2025 was flagged off with great enthusiasm. Student volunteers actively assisted participants across various checkpoints along the ring road, ensuring smooth coordination throughout the event. A dedicated medical team and ambulance were strategically stationed at key points to handle any emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.
In continuation with the spirit of collective responsibility, a plantation drive was also organized on campus after the marathon. Director Prof. Sharma, faculty members, staff members, and students planted saplings and contributed towards nurturing them with water and organic fertilizers. The activity served as a reminder that unity is not only about people coming together for a cause, but also about making conscious choices that support a sustainable future. Such initiatives further encourage students to adopt environmentally responsible habits and recognize their role in preserving natural resources for generations to come.
At the conclusion of the event, Prof. Sharma felicitated 9 students from different batches and programmes, IPL, IPM, and PGP, for achieving the fastest times in the 5 km run.
Expressing his appreciation, Prof. Sharma emphasized that such initiatives reflect IIM Rohtak’s vision of nurturing future leaders who are physically fit, socially conscious, and ethically grounded. He added that the spirit of collaboration and determination displayed during the event exemplifies the values the institute seeks to instill in its students.
With a current enrolment of over 1800 students, IIM Rohtak, an Institute of National Importance and AMBA-accredited, is ranked among the top 2 per cent of global management schools.
