IIM Ahmedabad summer placements 2026: Consulting firms snap up top talent as all 410 participating students secure internships
The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has completed its summer placement process for the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) Class of 2027, with all 410 students who participated in the institute's placement process securing internships across sectors ranging from consulting and banking to technology, consumer goods and healthcare.
The audited placement report shows that more than 155 firms participated in the process, offering 221 different roles across three placement clusters. By the end of the exercise, all 410 students seeking internships through the institute had accepted offers.
A look at the sector-wise data shows that consulting continued to dominate hiring at IIM Ahmedabad. Of the 410 accepted internship offers, 169 came from consulting firms, making it the largest recruiting sector by a considerable margin. Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) followed with 103 offers. Consumer Goods (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) accounted for 34 offers, while conglomerates made 28 offers.
The consulting cohort featured firms such as Boston Consulting Group, McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company, Kearney, Oliver Wyman, Roland Berger and L.E.K. Consulting, among others.
Within management consulting, Boston Consulting Group emerged as the largest recruiter with 24 offers. McKinsey & Company followed with 17 offers, while Bain & Company and Kearney made 15 offers each. In transformation and operations consulting, Accenture made the highest number of offers at 40.
The function-wise distribution shows the continuing pull of consulting and finance roles among management graduates.
Consulting roles accounted for 164 accepted offers, while finance roles made up 101 offers. Sales and marketing generated 45 offers, followed by general management with 37 and strategy with 20. Product and category management roles contributed 17 offers.
Recruiters in the investment banking and markets space included Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Barclays, Citibank and UBS. Goldman Sachs emerged as the largest recruiter in the investment banking and markets cohort with 11 offers.
The placement process brought together recruiters from a wide range of sectors. Technology firms such as Microsoft, Adobe, Apple, Qualcomm, Salesforce and Sprinklr participated in the internship process. Consumer-facing companies included Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), ITC, Procter & Gamble (P&G), Nestlé, Airtel, Asian Paints and Samsung Electronics.
Major conglomerates such as the Aditya Birla Group, Mahindra Group, Tata Administrative Services (TAS), JSW Group and Vedanta were also among the recruiters. Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra and Fast Retailing Japan participated from the retail segment.
The report shows that Amazon was the highest recruiter in the retail cohort with eight offers, while Mahindra led hiring among conglomerates with 10 offers. In consumer goods, Procter & Gamble made the highest number of offers at eight.
Location data from the audited report shows that Mumbai remained the largest identified internship destination, accounting for 75 offers. Bengaluru followed with 21 offers, while Pune accounted for 17 and Hyderabad for 11. Delhi National Capital Region recorded seven offers.
The report also classified 259 offers under "PAN India", reflecting cases where location details were either unavailable at the time of reporting or would be determined later by recruiters. According to the audit note, these offers were grouped together following institute guidance.
International opportunities were also part of the placement cycle, with offers reported in Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.
Not every student chose the placement route. Of the total batch strength of 414 students, four did not participate in the institute's internship process. Two opted to pursue entrepreneurial ventures, while two sought opportunities through off-campus channels.
For the remaining students, the placement cycle ended with all 410 internship offers accepted, according to the report prepared under the Indian Placement Reporting Standards framework.

Consulting remains the biggest recruiter
The consulting cohort featured firms such as Boston Consulting Group, McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company, Kearney, Oliver Wyman, Roland Berger and L.E.K. Consulting, among others.
Within management consulting, Boston Consulting Group emerged as the largest recruiter with 24 offers. McKinsey & Company followed with 17 offers, while Bain & Company and Kearney made 15 offers each. In transformation and operations consulting, Accenture made the highest number of offers at 40.
