GTU exams: Offline format gets preference over online

)'s move to provide the option of online MCQ-based examination to students has garnered a good response.


At the end of the registration process, as many as 26,500 students from India and abroad registered to take an

online exam

starting from July 30.

An estimated 61,000 students in various courses are expected to appear for the exam.

Officials at GTU said that 30,500 students in various courses have registered to appear for offline exams. The

offline exams

too will be conducted in

MCQ format

and GTU has given the option to appear for the exam at district level centres.

For online exams, students will have to go to nearby colleges if in case they have a poor internet connection.

GTU has provided three options to appear for the exam: online, offline, and special exam for students who do not wish to appear for the two formats. The exam is scheduled in September and 1,726 students have opted for a special exam. According to officials, 4,400 students did not select any option.

Earlier, the GTU's decision to conduct exams got embroiled in controversy after exam centres were allocated to many students about 100 km far away from their home-town. It was after the guidelines from

MHRD

and state government to conduct an online exam in July that the varsity decided to start exams from July 30.
