Girls outscore boys in Punjab State Education Board's Class XII results

In a state that is still marred by the blot of third poor sex ratio in India, girls outshone boys in the Class XII Punjab State Education Board (PSEB) results that were declared late on Sunday evening.

CHANDIGARH: In a state that is still marred by the blot of third poor sex ratio in India, girls outshone boys in the Class XII Punjab State Education Board (PSEB) results that were declared late on Sunday evening.
Out of 1,377,56 girls, 1,23,736 have cleared the exam, while clocking a 89.82 pass percentage in the state.
Only 1,28,735 out of 1,61301 boys could come out with flying colours.
Their pass percentage at 79.81% is far behind that of girls.
The overall pass percentage of students in PSEB board is 84.42%.
The first three rank-holders are also girls.
Muskan Verma, a 16-year-old student from the border district of Fazilka, has emerged as the topper in the non-medical stream in the state with an incredible 99.56%.
Verma was a student of Government Girls' Senior Secondary School in Fazilka. She has scored 448 marks out of 450.
Daisy Garg of Sprigdale's Public Senior Secondary School in Sangrur and Charu of GTB Khalsa Senior Secondary School in Muktsar have secured the second and the third position with 98.22% and 98% respectively.
Among all districts, Ludhiana has earned the distinction of 108 rank holders in the top 200 students.
