GATE 2026: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 is set to begin from tomorrow, February 7, 2026. The national-level examination is being conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati. The exam will take place on February 7, 8, 14 and 15, 2026, and will be held in computer-based mode at examination centres across India.
Candidates who have successfully registered themselves for GATE 2026 should download their admit card from the official website before reaching the exam center. Candidates are allowed to enter the hall only after verifying their documents, so candidates should check all the details on the admit card and follow the instructions given on it.
GATE 2026 will be conducted in two shifts each day.
Candidates must check their exact exam date, shift timing, and centre address on the admit card.
Students are advised to reach the exam centre at least 60 to 90 minutes before the reporting time mentioned on the admit card. This is important as biometric verification and document checking will be carried out before entry. Late entry is generally not permitted after the gate closing time, so candidates should plan their travel accordingly to avoid last-minute stress.
Candidates must carry the following documents on the exam day:
Candidates must also go through the guidelines in the admit card, which state if they are supposed to carry a passport-size photo with themselves.
Certain items are strictly prohibited inside the examination centre. These include mobile phones, smart watches, personal calculators, books, notes, bags, and any electronic devices. Candidates will not be allowed to carry study material of any kind into the exam hall.
A virtual calculator will be available on the computer screen during the exam. Rough sheets will be provided at the centre, and candidates must write their name and registration number on them before use.
Students are advised to wear simple and comfortable clothing and follow all instructions given by the invigilators. Any violation of rules or misconduct may lead to disqualification. Staying calm, reaching early, and carrying the required documents will help candidates have a smooth exam experience.
Candidates appearing for GATE 2026 are advised to stay focused and follow all guidelines carefully on the exam day.
